Hey Reader,
Last weekend I took my older boys and some friends out to Cerro Gordo, the ghost town I invested in with friends a few years ago.
We got to hang out with my friend Brent, who is the owner and ringleader of this crazy venture. He and I have talked on the phone multiple times a month for the last year as we've navigated challenges related to the business. But even with that time we've never actually been together in the town in person.
So this week was really special. He showed us great hikes, took us deep into some of the abandoned mines, and generally let the boys explore.
As we left my boys asked if we could spend a month there this summer. Probably not a month, but we'll definitely be back.
Speaking of hanging out in person...
Attending the right conference can massively accelerate your career as a creator. That's what happened for me! The magic is in the people you meet between sessions, the connections that get you into a peer group with people who will push you and inspire you.
We also have an incredible speaker line up this year, and the content will truly serve you as a creator. From Tim Urban to Glo Atanmo, Sam Parr to Steph Smith, each speaker has such awesome experience and wisdom to share.
Lastly, it's in my hometown of Boise, Idaho. The weather will be beautiful and it's a great town to explore.

In this episode I talk to Wes Kao, co-founder of altMBA. Her latest startup is called Maven, and it’s all about cohort-based courses.
Wes is fantastic at course design. Before Maven, she did a bunch of amazing things working with a lot of different creators.
We talk about the State Change Method, which is something I use to make my presentations much more interesting. We talk about building an audience on Twitter. We also talk about course design, cohort-based courses, and a lot of other fun things.
Have a great week,
Nathan

Hey Reader, What would you do if you knew you couldn’t fail? You’ve probably seen some version of this question before. It’s a good one, though sometimes the answer isn’t immediately obvious. That’s why I like Graham Weaver’s 8 questions for what to do with your life. Graham founded the private equity firm Alpine Investors, and he teaches at Stanford. In Chapter 2 of my upcoming book, The Ladders of Wealth, I credit him with a principle he shared with his MBA students called "worse first",...
Hey Reader, If I could solve only one thing in my business, that would have the biggest impact, what would that be? This is the question every great entrepreneur obsesses over. Rather than trying to do everything at once, you look for the bottleneck and focus on solving that. There’s a book called The Goal by an Israeli physicist named Eliyahu Goldratt. It’s a 1984 business novel that business systems nerds love. However if you’re not a business systems nerd you probably… won’t love it. It’s...
Hey Reader, Have you ever spent money on something and immediately felt guilty afterward? Will Guidara spends his money foolishly on purpose. And he thinks you should too. He once bought an entire barrel of whiskey and put it in his basement. He also put a skee-ball machine in the office. Is he going to get a monetary return on either of these things? No. But that’s kind of the point. He calls it the 95/5 rule: Manage your money and time like a maniac 95% of the time (no expense is too...
