How are you this week? Anything important going on today? No? Cool cool cool.
Here's hoping that you are safe and healthy in the midst of our current stressful environment.
With so much talk of paid newsletters lately (and ConvertKit launching our own solution next week), I've been asked a lot if I think someone should launch their own paid newsletter.
It's a nuanced decision, so Barrett and I get into the details on who should (and who shouldn't) start a paid newsletter:
We started in just the United States, but after testing we are live in 33 countries! So if you're a creator based in any of these countries, you're good to go: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and United States.
We're still just supporting USD, but you'll get your payout in your local currency.
I'm loving this biography of Hamilton. It's long and engaging and it sucks you in. Especially if you are a fan of the musical, you read these stories or meet characters and it triggers memories of the musical and its so fun to hear the backstories and say, "Oh, that's what that was about!"
Nicole is one of my favorite creators, and people! Her energy is infectious and you can't help but be impacted when you listen to her. She is also one of the best teachers out there. She helps creators find the confidence to charge for their work, and make a living doing what they love. She also has a podcast and tells great stories about entrepreneurship. She got really vulnerable on a recent episode and I thought it was incredible. Highly encourage you to listen »
Thanks for joining me today for this brief interlude from scrolling Twitter and refreshing election results.

Hey Reader, What would you do if you knew you couldn’t fail? You’ve probably seen some version of this question before. It’s a good one, though sometimes the answer isn’t immediately obvious. That’s why I like Graham Weaver’s 8 questions for what to do with your life. Graham founded the private equity firm Alpine Investors, and he teaches at Stanford. In Chapter 2 of my upcoming book, The Ladders of Wealth, I credit him with a principle he shared with his MBA students called "worse first",...
Hey Reader, If I could solve only one thing in my business, that would have the biggest impact, what would that be? This is the question every great entrepreneur obsesses over. Rather than trying to do everything at once, you look for the bottleneck and focus on solving that. There’s a book called The Goal by an Israeli physicist named Eliyahu Goldratt. It’s a 1984 business novel that business systems nerds love. However if you’re not a business systems nerd you probably… won’t love it. It’s...
Hey Reader, Have you ever spent money on something and immediately felt guilty afterward? Will Guidara spends his money foolishly on purpose. And he thinks you should too. He once bought an entire barrel of whiskey and put it in his basement. He also put a skee-ball machine in the office. Is he going to get a monetary return on either of these things? No. But that’s kind of the point. He calls it the 95/5 rule: Manage your money and time like a maniac 95% of the time (no expense is too...
