We just had our first virtual retreat at ConvertKit. I won't lie, I really missed being in person with the team, but the virtual event was better than I expected!
I think my favorite part was our trivia game which came down to the wire and involved a Taylor Swift themed final question (list every studio album in order). Easy.
For the data lovers who use ConvertKit you can now auto-tag any of your links with UTM parameters for accurate attribution. Just turn on the feature in your account settings.

Did you know it took Pixar 5 years to make Toy Story? Have you ever worked for 5 years on a single creative project?
Reading this book about Pixar made me think about endurance as a creator. Too often we set short timelines and want immediate gratification. How would a willingness to commit for 5 years change your approach to creative projects?

This program in Denver is such a great example of how cities can respond to 911 calls that don't truly require police. It launched June 1 and has been quite successful. I hope many other cities will try similar things and keep experimenting until programs are in place that take care of people when they need it, instead of arresting them.
We've been having fun lately with ConvertKit Creator Sessions by bringing in more and more unique artists.
Patcasso is a performance painter and DJ Steady Rock provides the sound tracks for his performances. I was hooked the whole time. They're both super talented with unique work.
One thing I loved was how much preparation goes into their performances. They certainly make it look easy and like its just flowing, but it takes a lot of work to achieve that.
Hope your week is going well so far!

Hey Reader, What would you do if you knew you couldn’t fail? You’ve probably seen some version of this question before. It’s a good one, though sometimes the answer isn’t immediately obvious. That’s why I like Graham Weaver’s 8 questions for what to do with your life. Graham founded the private equity firm Alpine Investors, and he teaches at Stanford. In Chapter 2 of my upcoming book, The Ladders of Wealth, I credit him with a principle he shared with his MBA students called "worse first",...
Hey Reader, If I could solve only one thing in my business, that would have the biggest impact, what would that be? This is the question every great entrepreneur obsesses over. Rather than trying to do everything at once, you look for the bottleneck and focus on solving that. There’s a book called The Goal by an Israeli physicist named Eliyahu Goldratt. It’s a 1984 business novel that business systems nerds love. However if you’re not a business systems nerd you probably… won’t love it. It’s...
Hey Reader, Have you ever spent money on something and immediately felt guilty afterward? Will Guidara spends his money foolishly on purpose. And he thinks you should too. He once bought an entire barrel of whiskey and put it in his basement. He also put a skee-ball machine in the office. Is he going to get a monetary return on either of these things? No. But that’s kind of the point. He calls it the 95/5 rule: Manage your money and time like a maniac 95% of the time (no expense is too...
